Unibalm Ingredients

Organic Egyptian Castor Oil

Used therapeutically since ancient times, castor oil has incredible healing abilities. Known as "Palma Christi" or "Hand of Christ," Castor oil is a Triglyceride comprised of fatty acids, 90 percent of which is ricinoleic acid - thought to be responsible for castor oil's unique healing abilities. Castor oil has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties and is high in skin healing vitamin E and omega 6 & 9.
It is an excellent skin emollient and even helps with skin upsets like dermatitis, which can cause severely rough, dry skin.

Styrax Benzoin Gum

Styrax Benzoin has a warming, vanilla-like aroma with resinous undertones. It is derived from the resin of the Styrax Benzoin tree.It’s a natural astringent and disinfectant renowned for its anti-inflammatory qualities, helping to reduce swelling, and stop subcutaneous bleeding (bruising)

Cocoa Seed Butter

Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) seed butter has been shown to contain high concentrations of plant flavonoids and polyphenols. The oil exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-allergenic and antioxidant properties that are beneficial for skin treatment.

Geranium Flower Oil

An anti-bacterial astringent, known for making skin tissues and blood vessels contract – hence less bruising.

Clove Oil

It's an effective and natural local anaesthetic which will temporarily numb and relieve initial pain from a percussive injury. Clove oil is also well known for its anti-inflammatory qualities.

Nutmeg

As with many of the ingredients in Unibalm it has anti-inflammatory properties and for this reason has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. It's known in Ayurvedic Medicine for its antiviral and antibacterial elements that decrease the likelihood of infections.

Bees Wax

The anti-inflammatory properties of beeswax encourage the healing of wounds. It is also protective, helping form a barrier between the skin and the environment without clogging pores. Further, beeswax is high in vitamin A, which has been found to support cell reconstruction and health.

Sunflower Oil

Sunflower oil contains several compounds that have benefits for skin. They include: oleic acid, vitamin E, sesamol and linoleic acidA small study also found that topical use of sunflower oil was beneficial for healing wounds faster. This may be due to its oleic acid content, which can be beneficial for wound care.

Grapeseed Oil

Comes from the pressed seeds of grapes - the oil is a by-product of the process of making wine. It’s known for its anti-inflammatory; antimicrobial; antioxidant properties.
These properties, along with the high amounts of omega chain fatty acids and vitamin E contained in grapeseed oil, have made it a popular topical treatment for skin.


In a nutshell, by amalgamating all the amazing healing qualities of these natural ingredients, it’s not surprising how effective Unibalm is.
